Protecting IVF + Industry Association Meetings

Protecting IVF + Industry Association Meetings

I’ve had another fantastic week meeting with several of Georgia's industry associations, talking to our citizens about our priorities for 2025, and celebrating our legislative achievements in the House.

Janelle King Sworn In as the Newest Member of the State Elections Board

Last Friday, I joined Governor Kemp as Janelle King was sworn in as the newest member of Georgia’s State Elections Board. I was honored to appoint Janelle to serve in this position, and we’re confident that she will put principle above politics and ensure transparency and accountability in our elections.

We’ve made significant progress in the House to strengthen election integrity and security. From requiring visible watermarks on paper ballots, securing ballot drop boxes, strengthening voter ID requirements, and bolstering our voter roll upkeep, we’re committed to championing initiatives that give Georgia voters confidence in their voice at the ballot box.

June 18th Runoff Election

The June 18th runoff election is quickly approaching! Visit the Georgia Secretary of State’s website to see the races that will be on the ballot in your district, and if you haven’t already, make sure you have a plan to get out and vote on Tuesday!

Georgia Bankers Association

On Tuesday, I joined the Georgia Bankers Association to speak on a panel alongside Senator John Kennedy, Representative Noel Williams, and Representative Bruce Williamson.

Our financial institutions contribute so much to our small businesses and communities across the state, and we’re always grateful for their partnership as we work to make Georgia the best place for everyone to live, work, and raise a family!

Protecting Access to IVF for Georgia Families

On Thursday, I reiterated my support of protecting access to IVF and fertility treatments for Georgia families. For Georgians struggling with fertility, IVF has been an answered prayer and a blessing for so many of them to become parents. Last session, the House passed a resolution supporting IVF, and we will look to continue that work next session by enshrining those protections in law.

John Adam Treutlen Award

On Thursday night, I received an incredible honor and wonderful surprise when the Effingham Chamber of Commerce presented me with the John Adam Treutlen Award.

I always say that this job is about serving the people of my community and working to make our state a better place for all of our citizens. It’s a privilege to work alongside each of you, to represent you in the House, and to have been given this distinct recognition from my home district.

Happy Father’s Day

I’m wishing a happy early Father’s Day to all of the men and father figures who love, nurture, and support our families across the state. I hope that everyone has a great weekend spending time with their families and loved ones!

My best,

Speaker Jon Burns
