Majority Leader Jon Burns Seeks Re-election to Georgia House District 159

ATLANTA – Georgia House Majority Leader Jon G. Burns (R-Newington) announced his re-election campaign for House District 159 today. “It has been my true honor to have represented Screven, Effingham and Bulloch counties since I was first sworn in as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives in 2005,” Majority Leader Burns said. “I look forward to continuing to represent our Southeast Georgia values in Atlanta.”

During Leader Burns’ time in the legislature, he has supported annual budgets that properly appropriate taxpayers’ funds and passed legislation that has kept taxes low for Georgians. He has also supported other legislative priorities like access to quality healthcare, especially for rural areas, improvements to our state's educational system at every level, and enhancements to infrastructure throughout the state.

Representative Jon Burns represents the citizens of District 159, which includes Screven County and portions of Bulloch and Effingham counties. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2004 and currently serves as House Majority Leader. He also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Higher Education and the Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Economic Development & Tourism, Ethics, Game, Fish & Parks, and Transportation committees.
