Greater Georgia Event and Tax Cut Bill Signings
It’s been another productive and exciting week traveling the state and getting our message out about the accomplishments and work of this past legislative session. On Tuesday, I had the opportunity to attend and speak at Greater Georgia’s legislative awards ceremony in Atlanta. Greater Georgia is a voter outreach group founded by former Senator Kelly Loeffler to register, engage and mobilize voters across our state. Their mission is threefold: to register and engage more voters; reach diverse communities and expand networks with minorities; and strengthen election integrity and transparency. The event on Wednesday was a huge success, and I was proud to join Governor Kemp, First Lady Marty Kemp, House and Senate members to share and celebrate the legislative accomplishments from this past session—from tax cuts to public safety, to investments in education and election integrity. A number of House members were recognized as “Legislators of the year” for their accomplishments, and I want to congratulate each of them—as well as the Senate members who were recognized!

On Thursday, I had the privilege of joining Governor Kemp in Augusta as he signed a number of tax cuts into law—many of which were priorities of the House this passed session. From accelerating the cut to the state income tax to 5.39 percent—which will save taxpayers over $1 billion—to increasing the child tax deduction to $4,000 per dependent—I’m incredibly proud of the work we did to put more money back into the pockets of families across our state. We know that Georgians can spend their money far better than government can, and that’s something we will continue prioritizing over the coming years. You can find a full list of the bills the Governor signed with links below.

Finally, I enjoyed sitting down with Abby Kousouris of Gray Television this week for a wide-ranging interview recapping session, priorities that were passed, and the work ahead to continue making our state the best place to live, work and raise a family. That interview is set to air this coming week, so be sure to check your local listings to catch it.
Spring is in full bloom, and I hope you’re able to get outside and enjoy this wonderful weather! As always, if there is anything I can be helpful with, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
My Best,
Speaker Jon Burns
