Sylvania Receives Over $3M in Awards to Reinforce Water and Sewer Infrastructure

ATLANTA – Governor Brian P. Kemp announced that more than $422 million in preliminary awards will be issued to high-need communities to provide reliable and safe drinking water and wastewater systems. Sylvania was awarded $3,055,422.27.

“The quality of life for our citizens is a top priority for our Republican-led legislature and for our Governor,” said House Majority Leader Jon Burns (R-Newington). “Georgia is now positioned to make strategic investments in our state’s water and sewer infrastructure, ensuring that the public health and environment of our communities is maintained both now and for future generations.”

“Continuing to make Georgia a top place for people to live is always at the forefront of  our initiatives under the Gold Dome,” said Senator Max Burns (R-Sylvania). “With enhancements to the infrastructure in our community, we can better the lives of the people that choose to make Sylvania their home.”

These investments will improve drinking water treatment, and wastewater management, resulting in cleaner lakes and rivers, and overall secure and strengthen Georgia’s water resources. “I’d like to thank the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and its Environmental Protection Divison, and the House and Senate Appropriations Committees for their stewardship of our water systems, resources, and taxpayers’ dollars,” said Majority Leader Burns.
