$1 Billion Returning to Georgia Taxpayers + South Georgia Events
It has been another busy and exciting week as we continue our efforts to secure federal aid for our communities impacted by Hurricane Helene and work to deliver further tax relief to hardworking Georgians.
Check out some of this week’s highlights below:
Announcing $1 Billion in Rebates for Georgia Taxpayers
On Tuesday, I joined Governor Kemp, Lieutenant Governor Jones, and members of the General Assembly to announce another $1 billion of tax relief for hardworking Georgians and their families.
These rebates will return $250 to single filers, $375 to heads of households and $500 to married couples.
Since 2019, state leaders have voted to return over $6 billion in taxpayer money to the citizens of our state. We’re proud to provide yet another round of rebates to the citizens of Georgia who are facing 40-year-high inflation—and we look forward to continue providing financial relief to taxpayers across the state.

Requesting Supplemental Disaster Relief for the Southeastern States
On Monday, I co-signed a letter to Congressional Leaders along with my fellow Speakers from Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina, and South Carolina to request supplemental disaster relief in the form of three simultaneous block grants.
These grants would be awarded to the impacted states to support recovery efforts related to infrastructure, private citizens and businesses, and agriculture. This method of distribution would allow the affected states to quickly and efficiently distribute the funds to the areas that need it most.
Our state’s leaders will continue to work alongside Georgia’s Congressional Delegation until our communities have been provided with every possible asset and resource they need to rebuild. See our full letter below:

Georgia Peach Education Tax Credit
Increasing literacy rates among Georgia’s students has been, and continues to be, a top priority for the Georgia House. I’m grateful to my wife, Dayle, and the Georgia Council on Literacy for their tireless dedication to championing early education opportunities for children in every corner of the state.
Earlier this week, Dayle joined Malcolm Mitchell to get the message out about an opportunity for every Georgian to get involved in the mission. The Georgia Peach Education Tax Credit allows individuals and corporations the opportunity to designate a portion of their tax dollars to support K-12 literacy initiatives in Georgia’s public schools.
To learn more about how you can secure a Georgia Peach Education Tax credit and designate the funds to the Georgia Council on Literacy, talk to your accountant or visit the Georgia Foundation for Public Education’s website at www.gfpe.org.
