Georgia’s Economy

Friends,

Whatever President Biden wants to call it, our national economy is in trouble. We have met the historical definition of a recession, six straight months of negative economic growth nationally.

However, it’s worth remembering that because of the leadership of Governor Kemp and the General Assembly, Georgia is bucking that trend.

Businesses continue to open, grow, and expand across Georgia.  In recent weeks, 100 new manufacturing jobs were announced in Columbus, Denkai America decided to open its $430 million American headquarters in Augusta bringing 250 jobs, and SK Battery in Jackson County launched a partnership with the Georgia National Guard’s Work for Warriors program.

Governor Kemp has continued the focus on providing opportunity not just in Atlanta but across the state, and it shows.

Georgia revenues are up - not because of tax increases proposed by liberals, but because Georgians are earning more.

Gas prices are down because the Governor has kept the state gas tax holiday in place.

And new Georgia industries are leaders. Georgia productions were just nominated for 46 Emmy awards, recognizing a film and television production industry that has created jobs and opportunity for Georgians across our state.

This growth has scared some like California’s Governor Gavin Newsome, who recently begged the filmmaking business to keep jobs in high tax, high regulation California.

It’s not going to work.

This industry, like many others, has seen the benefit of the economic freedom, limited regulation, and low tax environment Georgia offers.

Georgia’s conservative leadership recognizes what the polls show us and what plain old South Georgia common sense taught me.  No matter how much California and Washington liberals want to focus on divisive social issues, folks at home in Georgia are worried first and foremost about having good jobs and educational opportunities and the ability to earn enough to put food on the table and a roof over the heads of their families.

Conclusion

As long as I have the opportunity to continue to serve you in Atlanta, I will fight to ensure that the folks of the 159th District continue to have opportunities to build better lives for themselves and their families at home in Georgia - no matter how much that scares liberals.
